Big Brothers/Big Sisters is a non-profit organization which matches adult mentors with children from single parent families. Their Lunch Pail Pal program is also very popular. They match mentors with a child at school close by to spend one lunch hour a week for one year with that child.

is a drug prevention organization that promotes Asset Building to help all youth become healthy, caring, responsible adults. Some of their programs include: Teen Camp, STAND (Students Taking A New Direction) groups at Flathead High School, Kalispell Junior High School, Evergreen Junior High School and Linderman, Kids Camp, Red Ribbon Week, Teen Day, CARE Support Groups , Prevention Works!! Training, and a sponsor of Teens After Hours at the Summit.

Flathead Valley Chemical Dependency Clinic

The Flathead Valley Chemical Dependency Clinic is a private non-profit, community based agency which provides alcohol and other drug counseling and prevention services. It is certified to offer the following outpatient services: assessment, intervention, individual and group counseling, education, family work, aftercare, and prevention for alcohol and other drug related problems. The clinic also offers an Adolescent Outpatient Program, in which adolescents faced with chemical abuse and dependency problems can access assessment, individual and group counseling components while remaining involved with their school, families, and community.

Head Start

provides early childhood education for limited income families, ages 3-5. They also provide services for children with disabilities, Family Support Services and Physical and Mental Health Services.

Violence Free Crisis Line

was formed in order to provide services for victims of domestic violence, rape, incest and child abuse. These problems are epidemic in society today. Violence Free Crisis Line/The Abbie attempts not only to respond to emerging crises of this nature, but also to prevent these situations from occurring in the future. Their goals are to empower individuals to respond to their situations and to prevent future violence. Their services include: Crisis Intervention - a 24-hour crisis phone line with coverage 365 days a year, Peer Counseling, Advocacy/Referral, and Emergency Shelter/Safe Housing at The Abigail Frederick Memorial Shelter. The Abbey shelter was established to give battered women in our community the opportunity to think, feel, and live in a safe, warm environment. Shelter Services include: Crisis intervention, Peer counseling, information and referrals, access to medical, economic, and legal assistance, emergency transportation, education on domestic violence issues, non-judgemental support, and court advocacy in filing Orders of Protection and Crime Victims Compensation claims. A very important prevention program of the Violence Free Crisis Line is the PEACE project, in which teen educators present information on dating and sexual violence to peers.

is a non-profit organization, utilizing Federal Office of Public Instruction Safe & Drug Free School monies, within Whitefish School District #44. Their mission statement is: "To promote a safe and drug-free school environment and a community network through education, intervention and prevention that will support continued healthy lifestyles for youth." Whitefish CARE is a collaborative effort between representatives from the community, Whitefish Police Department, North Valley Hospital, and School District students, staff and parents.
